Vietnam is one of the most interesting countries I've visited.
The first time was with a group of friends and we had a blast. We kept our travel to the South visiting Ho Chi Mihn (Saigon) and the beach town of Nha Trang.
I took a side trip off to Dalat and hooked up with them back in Saigon.
My second trip started in the North in Hanoi and worked my down the coast stopping at every town that seemed interesting.
Travelling "local" in Vietnam is challenging but well worth it! I avoided the tourist packages and focused on experiencing things first hand.
The people are warm and generous. But you do need to be careful as with anywhere..
